fierce but kept simple...

One of my closest friends got married last week and as you can imagine I was pretty excited and emotional about it. I was excited because I was asked to be one of her bridesmaids (whoop whoop!) and emotional because she was about to start a new journey in her life. Weeks leading up to the wedding, we would talk about her vision and look for the day and she was very clear - to look fierce but kept simple. She was also clear that she wanted to do her own makeup on the day.

She had already had a designer in mind for her outfit, Natacha Baco. Her designs and outfits are beautifully handmade and custom to individual people. Her slogan is “grow your style, cultivate your difference to assert your individuality!” which I love and is totally aligned with mine.

Me and another bridesmaid (and another close friend of mine) decided to make a ‘care package’ for the bride, that included makeup products for the day. We had to keep in mind that she wanted to look fierce but kept simple, so we thought a neutral face with a bold statement lip would look amazing!

On the day, she decided to go for a ‘day look’ for her wedding ceremony and an ‘evening look’ for the reception, by simply switching up the lipsticks! During the day she wore a matte crimson red lip to contrast her stunning yellow and dark brown outfit, and during the evening she wore a matte deep berry lip to add some drama.

She really inspired me! Not only did she do her own makeup, she taught me that ‘bridal makeup’ doesn’t always have to be heavy and consuming, but can be simple and fierce.
