So, I read yesterday that Bobbi Brown had a problem with people contouring, saying that "it looks like dirt" and that as a "beauty expert" who believes in "individual beauty" we should avoid contouring and instead we should be highlighting our features to get a "fresh face" look (hmm sounds a lil dodgy to me).
Don't get me wrong, I get where she's going with it. She doesn't want women to conform to ideal beauty norms which, tell them that to look beautiful you must have defined cheekbones, a 'perfect' narrow nose and a thin symmetrical face. I do agree with her on that. But then why is she doing the same by forcing her own beauty ideals onto us as a "beauty expert"? How is she making people, who have contoured for years, feel comfortable with their own faces and makeup practices?
Basically, I'm getting sick of people taking choices away from women. I LOVE contouring and not because I want to look like the Kardashians (who by the way did not invent contouring!), but because I think I look badass with it. Do I do it everyday? No. But that's my personal choice and I sure don't want anyone telling me I should or shouldn't be contouring!
